OUR 2025 RECAP!
From our own comics, Hearteater and The Surgeon, to our X-Series jackets and a few more risque projects, it's been another year of successful kickstarters! Look forward to tons more cool stuff coming in 2026!
The X-Series Track Jackets were a major milestone for Laguna Studios in 2025, turning our love for 90s superhero design into real, wearable pieces. Thanks to the incredible support behind the campaign, we brought these mutant-inspired jackets from concept to reality. Each design balances bold comic energy with everyday wearability, and they’ve become staples around the studio. The project marked a huge step forward for us, made possible entirely by the fans who believed in it from the start.
Hearteater Issue #2 was an important step forward for Laguna Studios in 2025, not just for the series itself, but for our ability to keep supporting small creators and ongoing projects. The campaign funded quickly and exceeded its goal, allowing us to continue working with the artists behind Hearteater and invest in future issues. Backer support made it possible to keep this pirate saga alive while reinforcing our mission to help independent creators build lasting, sustainable series.
The Surgeon: Volume One was a major publishing milestone for Laguna Studios in 2025, bringing together Chapters 1–6 into a complete, standalone graphic novel. Funding this compendium allowed us to fully support the creative team behind the series and preserve the story as it was meant to be read—uninterrupted, cohesive, and complete. Projects like this reflect our commitment to helping indie creators finish ambitious long-form works and deliver lasting stories to readers who value depth, craft, and emotional weight.
Giant Girl Adventures represented our continued commitment in 2025 to supporting long-running, creator-owned series and the artists behind them. Backer support allowed the team to keep expanding a world that blends action, humor, and heartfelt LGBTQ+ storytelling, while remaining true to its indie roots. Projects like this reflect our goal of helping diverse, inclusive comics thrive over time and ensuring creators can continue telling bold, personal stories on their own terms.
Our After Dark releases in 2025 showcased another side of what independent publishing can be: playful, provocative, and unapologetically niche. Projects like I Do Not Like BDSM and Dick or Treat allowed us to support small creators making bold, adult-oriented parody and humor comics that don’t always have a home in traditional publishing spaces. Backer support made it possible to give these artists creative freedom, proper production, and a platform to reach the audience that actively wants this kind of weird, irreverent work.

Across these five projects, 2025 was about giving creators the space and support to finish the work they care about—whether that meant sustaining long-running series, publishing complete graphic novels, experimenting with bold ideas, or bringing fandom into the real world. As a woman-owned indie publisher, we’re proud to work with a diverse, global group of artists and to support them through publishing, fulfillment, and crowdfunding. There’s a lot more coming in 2026, and we’re excited to keep building alongside our community.
